Cooking For A Cause is a great example of CDNIS students providing service through action! This Upper School Club prepares and provides meals to refugees from all over the world. Their goal is to complete 11 cookouts by the end of the 2017/2018 academic year. If they do, the team will have served approximately 390 meals to refugees! WOW! AMAZING!
The CISPA Outreach Committee provides financial to support to CDNIS initiatives like Cooking For A Cause that have a charitable, service, sustainable or environmentally conscious element.
Cooking For A Cause was started 4yrs ago by a small group of CDNIS students, and the club has grown to 30+ members. Twice a month, students from Grades 7-11 plan, shop, prepare and serve meals to almost 50 refugees at a soup kitchen provided by Christian Action in Chungking Mansions.
Not only has Cooking For A Cause established itself as a solid Upper School club, the students are also developing self-fundraising initiatives. You may have enjoyed their smoothies or milkshakes at the Family Fun Fair or snacks and baked goods on the 6th Floor bridge. Lucky us, the club will be holding a bake sale in March so be sure to look out for details!
CISPA Outreach is delighted to see Cooking For A Cause grow and thrive, and we are pleased to support this initiative.
