Volunteer during Hong Kong’s community service week!
A great way to get your family involved and for students to learn about volunteering and take action.
From 5-13 May 2018, thousands of Hong Kong citizens will volunteer for Serve-a-thon 2018 ( http://www.serveathonhk.org.hk ), taking place at hundreds of locations across the city in support of close to 50 NGOs.
Over 15,000 people in need were supported during last year’s Serve-a-thon (watch a 2-minute clip). Hong Kong has a vibrant non-profit sector working every day to support the local community but they can’t do it alone. Serve-a-thon is a chance for each of us to give back by giving our time.
As if that is not persuasive argument enough, these opportunities also count towards a student’s MYP ‘Service as Action’ and DP CAS experiences!
If you choose to volunteer, t would be great to hear back about your experience. Please share your experience on the ‘Stories’ blog of CDNIS’s “Taking Action” website( http://sites.cdnis.edu.hk/school/takingaction/community-connections/ ) by emailing your thoughts and photos to Ms. Safaya, the Local & Global Engagement Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org
