Emergencies

Change of Contact Information and Emergency Contacts

In case of emergency, it is essential that the school has current contact information for all adults responsible for each and every CDNIS student. For incidents that affect all or part of the school, CDNIS uses an emergency notification system utilizing SMS messages, emails and bulletins posted on the school website.

Parents should ensure that both the classroom teacher and the Administration Office know their current email address and telephone numbers.  Further, in case of emergency (a school closure, for example), the school may need to contact the students’ caregivers, so please provide the contact information for whoever meets your student at the bus and/or acts as a caregiver.

Parents can update their contact information via:

Should your child be involved in an accident or emergency situation, prompt medical attention will given at the school. If necessary, the student will be taken to the closest public hospital unless the student’s parents request another hospital. The parents, guardian or emergency contact will be notified as soon as possible.

All staff and high school students will be trained on the proper use of an EpiPen in the case of an anaphylactic allergic reaction.

Karla Handcock is the school nurse. The telephone number for the nurse’s office is 2240-6329.

What if my child is sick?

If your child is complaining of feeling ill, please take his or her temperature before sending them to school. If their temperature is 37.5 C or higher, or if they have a cough, runny nose, diarrhea, rash or are feeling generally unwell, please keep them at home resting in bed.  Unfortunately, one sick child can spread germs to the whole class. We will educate the students regarding proper hand washing to assist in maintaining a healthy school environment.

PLEASE DO NOT give your child Panadol, Tylenol, Calpol or a cough suppressant in the morning and then send him or her to school. The medications only mask an illness and by lunchtime the student will feel unwell again.

See more about What to do with sick kids.

What if the weather is dangerous?

The school will be closed for Red and Black Rain warnings. Children under 5 (reception & pre-reception) are not to come to school if Typhoon Signal 3 is hoisted. Full description of weather policy here.
