Uniforms

Lost it? Label it!

Parents are strongly encouraged to label all items, with the student’s first and surname.  CISPA strongly recommends the use of printed iron-on name labels (such as those sold by Stuck On You), since laundry pen fades and becomes difficult to read.

Please visit our Stuck On You labels.  Proceeds will support CISPA initiatives.

In addition to the uniforms described below, optional accessories such as hooded jackets are available.  No scarves, sweaters or jackets should be worn other than the regulation jackets and sweaters.  Pants must be appropriately sized and not hang too low at the waist.  Skirts should be no shorter than 10 cm (4 inches) above the knee. No excessive jewellery or piercing is permitted.

Uniform Policy

In 2010 a committee of parents, staff and students evaluated the quality of the school uniform.  Our goal is to keep the uniform comfortable and respectable, since the uniform represents our school when our students are seen throughout the community.  New uniforms are being introduced this academic year.

See the new uniforms.

The old uniform will be completely phased out by the 2013-14 school year. The school will continue to collect existing uniforms so they can be modified and donated to those in need through various student-led initiatives

CDNIS students are required to wear the school uniform when attending classes and most official school functions. If a student is dressed in a manner that is considered inappropriate, he or she will be asked to change and come back to see the reporting teacher in appropriate attire immediately.  The student may be asked to return home to change, or to have the appropriate uniform delivered to school.  Other possible consequences for repeat offences include detention, loss of Dress Down Day privileges, a letter sent home, or suspension.

School uniforms can be purchased in the school uniform shop (Room 502) or at Aston Wilson Ltd. On specific occasions such as Dress Down Days (DDD), students are permitted to wear appropriate casual clothes, sometimes in a designated theme and with a HK$20 minimum donation to the chosen charity.  These occasions are announced to the students in advance, are marked in the CISPA Calendar and appear in the Flash.

“No Hat, No Play” Policy:  The LS “No Hat, No Play” policy requires that students play in the covered, shaded areas of the playgrounds during break times if they are not wearing a hat.  A hat is now a mandatory part of the LS uniform for boys and girls from Pre Reception through Grade 6.  CDNIS hats can be purchased from the uniform shop, but students may wear their own hats if they wish.

Uniform for Students in Pre Reception to Grade 2

The terms “summer” and “winter” are used occasionally for events or outings when all students are to be dressed in the same uniform.  In general, students may wear either version of the uniform throughout the year.

Girls:  The summer uniform consists of a short-sleeved red-and-white-striped dress, while the winter uniform is a tan pinafore with a long-sleeved red and white striped blouse.  Alternatively, girls have the option of wearing tan shorts or trousers with the red-and-white-striped shirt.  Footwear is either black shoes or black trainers worn with white socks or white tights.  A hat is required.

Boys:  The summer uniform consists of tan shorts with a short-sleeved red-and-white-striped shirt, while the winter version consists of tan trousers with a long-sleeved red-and-white-striped shirt.  Footwear is either black shoes or trainers worn with white socks. A hat is required.

PE Uniforms (Unisex):  The PE uniform consists of the student’s assigned House short- or long-sleeved shirt, black shorts or sweatpants, white socks, and trainers. Each student is assigned to one of four Houses symbolized by Canadian native artwork – Orca (red), Raven (yellow), Mountain Lion (green), and Bear (blue).

Please note: On days when they have PE classes, students in Pre Reception to Grade 2 wear their PE uniforms to school for the entire day.  If the students have swimming lessons in PE, they should still wear their PE uniform for the day.

From Grade 5 onwards, students are expected to change into their PE uniform for PE classes and change back into their regular uniform for the rest of the day.
